The next R+T – the leading world trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems – will take place from 23 to 27 February 2021 in Stuttgart. In order to again offer an optimum sector platform for exhibitors and visitors, the R+T team met for a strategy workshop in an unusual setting; for three days they moved into the Loxone showhome in Kollerschlag.
“After evaluating R+T 2018 in detail, we are now dedicating ourselves with our full commitment to the next edition of this world-leading trade fair,” reports Sebastian Schmid, Head of the Technology department. The results this year are very respectable: 65,603 visitors from around the world travelled to Stuttgart to find out about the products and innovations of the in total 1025 exhibitors. “Of course, we want to continue this development. However, what’s especially important to us is that our exhibitors and visitors are satisfied all round with R+T,” says Project Manager Anne-Kathrin Müller. To this end, the essential thing is that the leading world trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems is continually evaluated and the market developments are directly taken into consideration. Another guarantee for success: The strategy for 2021 must include new ideas in order to reflect the power of innovation in an appropriate framework.
The right place
In order to exchange ideas on the concept for R+T 2021, the team led by Sebastian Schmid has rented the Loxone showhome for three days. The company develops complete solutions in the field of the smart home, involving powerful logic, software, hardware and products for the smart home. In the showhome, all functions are connected together, similarly to the human nervous system. All lines run together to the central control system, the mini-server. “The company participated in the R+T Smart Home Forum at R+T 2018 in cooperation with one of our exhibitors. On that occasion, we found out about the opportunity to live in the showhome on a trial basis,” reports Senior Project Coordinator Philipp Götz. The whole team was immediately inspired by this idea; it offered the opportunity to experience this rapidly developing field at first hand.
“If you look at this closely, a trade fair concept even has a great deal in common with the theme of the smart home,” says Sebastian Schmid. The Loxone Smart Home links all the functions in a house in a network. For example, the heating system knows exactly what the sun shades are doing – everything is optimally linked to ensure maximum efficiency. Residents can save up to 50,000 manual operations each year, and the time saved can be used for other things. “It is our declared aim that the exhibitors and visitors benefit equally from R+T. We are networking and bringing the sector together in Stuttgart. Everything will be organised so that on the trade fair days maximum time is available for the exchange of ideas and opinions. That’s precisely what counts,” says Anne-Kathrin Müller.
The over 50 years of history of R+T naturally results in a great wealth of experience at Messe Stuttgart, but looking ahead also guarantees that the success story of this world-leading trade fair will continue. Sebastian Schmid: “The concept of R+T ensures that the visitors in Stuttgart can experience products and innovations with which they can face the demands of the market in the coming years. Accordingly, we are in constant dialogue with the industry, as well as with associations and partners, in order to reflect the trends and topics of the future at R+T.” The path is thus set to ensure that R+T 2021 will be able to further expand its position as an established international platform for the sector and its innovations.
