Trade fair alliance for the global sun protection and door/gate industries / Good prospects for 2021 and 2022
As the world’s leading trade fair, R+T reflects the success of the international industries in the areas of sun protection and doors/gates. With a history of success stretching back more than 50 years, R+T has managed to bring its trade fair topics to various international markets. In particular, the current situation clearly indicates that a strong network and reliable partners are key elements in international business. In the new “R+T Alliance” brand Messe Stuttgart and all its international partners are combining common interests whose main objectives are to continually increase the trade fair success of exhibitors and visitors and strengthen one another in the network. The R+T Alliance currently comprises six trade fairs for the sun protection and door/gate industries at five locations on three continents: R+T with R+T Digital, R+T Asia, R+T Turkey, APA Expo by R+T, Sun Shading Expo North America and OUTDOOR. R+T going digital
Prompted by the postponement of R+T to 2022, Messe Stuttgart is breaking new ground with R+T digital from 22 to 25 February 2021. On the www.rt-expo.digital platform, the industry can network and present product innovations to trade visitors all over the world in a virtual environment. The centrepiece will be the R+T Innovation Award. Other key topics such as gastronomy, innovations, craft trades and architecture will also be examined in hybrid event sections. The entire platform of R+T digital, including the exhibitors’ stands and the talk programme, will also be available for a whole year after the live event in February 2021, i.e. right up until R+T 2022 from 21 to 25 February 2022.
New trade fair in the USA: Sun Shading Expo North America
R+T is also now bringing more than 50 years of expertise in sun protection to the USA: with effect from 2021, Sun Shading Expo North America will be held concurrently with the trade fair IFAI Expo. IFAI Expo is North America’s leading trade fair for industrial, specialty and advanced textiles. Sun Shading Expo North America will extend and therefore enhance the trade fair programme by including the components of internal and external sun protection. The core of the new trade fair will be the product groups of roller shutters and accessories, exterior Venetian blinds, internal sun protection systems, insect repellent systems, drives, control systems, building automation and intelligent home systems. Sun Shading Expo North America will be held for the first time from 2 to 4 November 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee.
APA Expo by R+T: date of the trade fair in October 2022
APA Expo by R+T, a joint trade fair cooperation agreement with the Spanish Association of Automatic Door/Gate Manufacturers, will be staged for the first time from 5 to 7 October 2022. The event will be held at the Barcelona Trade Fair Centre in Spain. In the past this international trade fair for automatic doors/gates took place under the name of FIPA – most recently in Valencia with over 100 exhibitors and 3,500 trade visitors. In 2017 and 2019, FIPA was already organised with the support of the APA. The Spanish industry and the market for automatic doors/gates are very much in favour of this cooperation and are convinced that the collaboration between the Association and Messe Stuttgart will produce important synergies and anticipated positive impacts.
R+T Asia: Good start to trade fair business in China
The trade fair business in China is reporting a positive response to events which have already been staged and are being planned. Trade fairs in accordance with strict hygiene regulations are regarded as prime examples of the successful restart of the trade fair business after months of uncertainty. For example, the next R+T Asia will take place from 24 to 26 March 2021 at the established venue, i.e. the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC), and also again concurrently with DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR. The industry is highly confident about the event and the registration numbers are only slightly below those in previous years. International companies also regard R+T Asia as a must-attend event in Asia. Over 75 per cent of exhibitors at the last event have already confirmed that they will take part in R+T Asia 2021.
However, in order to give space to the innovations which could not be shown this year, the “Best of 2020” campaign is currently underway. Every week, selected products are presented on the social media channels of R+T Asia with the focus on sustainability and smart homes.
R+T Turkey: Highly regarded industry meeting point for Turkey and neighbouring countries
R+T Turkey is the most important industry meeting point for the national sun protection market. This is confirmed by the increase in the number of trade visitors to 5,534 from over 80 countries at the last event in autumn 2019. Istanbul is the ideal trade fair venue, especially for the MENA countries and the Balkans: a good 25 per cent of visitors at R+T Turkey came from abroad. The top 9 international visitor countries included Greece in first place followed by Bulgaria, Iran, Iraq, Serbia, Ukraine, Morocco, Russia and Israel. R+T Turkey will next be held from 16 to 18 September 2021 at the Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Turkey.

In February 2022 leading manufacturers will present their innovations in the area of sun and weather protection systems for outdoor gastronomy both at INTERGASTRA, the leading trade fair for the hotel and gastronomy business, and the following R+T in Stuttgart. One year beforehand, renowned representatives from the hotel and restaurant industry will provide an overview of the latest topics and trends relating to outdoor products on the Gastronomy Day (22 February 2021) during R+T digital.
