Outdoor living still in vogue

The special show OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. on the topic of outdoor gastronomy will be staged again from 15 to 19 February 2020 as part of INTERGASTRA. The second edition of this special show will show hoteliers and restaurateurs the different covering and shading solutions for outdoor areas. From slatted and glass roofs through to pergola awnings and sunshades – visitors will be able to admire all these products during OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. in the Rothaus Park at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre between Halls 5 and 7 and Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6), Alfred Kärcher Hall (Hall 8) and Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10). Renowned companies from the sun and weather protection industry, e.g. Bahama GmbH, CARAVITA GmbH, Corradi Srl, LEINER GmbH, markilux GmbH & Co. KG, WAREMA Renkhoff SE and weinor GmbH & Co. KG, will present their complete outdoor product portfolio in this respect. “One major advantage of this special show is that we can present our products in the outdoor section of the trade fair,” said Thilo Weiermann, Managing Director of Weinor. “Visitors will therefore be able to experience our products in the areas of awnings, terrace roofs and conservatories at first hand and see for themselves the advantages of the products in terms of their functionality, quality and design.” Volker Schröder, Managing Director of Bahama GmbH, is impressed by the concept of OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING.: “What better way to present the outstanding qualities of a large umbrella than in the open air under blue skies which can also be wet and stormy at times.”

Initiated as a pilot project, the special show OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING was staged for the first time in 2018 – at that time together with INTERGASTRA and then during R+T, the leading world trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection, in Stuttgart. “The concept of our outdoor theme area proved very popular among visitors from hotels and restaurants, and also among technical planners, architects and specialist retailers in the craft industry,” said Sebastian Schmid, Department Director at Messe Stuttgart, who is directly responsible for organising and implementing the special show. “The growing demand for outdoor solutions in restaurants and hotels also encouraged us to stage OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. again during the forthcoming INTERGASTRA 2020 and to further extend this special show.” Ekkehard Kamp, Head of Business Development for Outdoor Living in the Warema Group, added: “We from Warema and Caravita were present at the first special show in 2018 and can only say that participation is definitely worthwhile. Every leading manufacturer is there and provides inspirations for a successful outdoor atmosphere.”

Outdoor living offers new opportunities

The trend towards outdoor living is continuing unabated. “Some years ago, we extended our product development to take account of increasing requirements in the outdoor living sector,” explained Jan Kattenbeck, Head of team:project at Markilux GmbH & Co. KG, “because primarily hoteliers and restaurateurs have long realised that they can actively use a better quality of life for their guests and customers.” Especially now in spring, the first rays of the sun draw people outside to the countless cafés, bars and restaurants. “You should think about the right sun protection system in good time,” added Daniel Ohl, Communication Director for the Baden-Württemberg branch of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA), “because at this time of the year an airy shaded place is just as popular as a seat which provides protection against wind and rain.” Well thought-out trend products from the outdoor living sector now offer a number of possibilities to design the guest area effectively and comfortably in any weather conditions. In conjunction with suitable accessories such as radiant heaters, loudspeaker systems and lights, comfort in outdoor areas can be increased substantially and become enjoyable the whole year round. “More and more companies are becoming aware of the possibilities of their outdoor areas. However, there is so much more that can be developed and improved. This objective can only be attained through continuous interaction between all the participants,” said Raf Segers, CEO of Corradi Srl. Andreas Husmann, Sales Manager for Restaurants and Hotels at LEINER GmbH, commented: “The market has changed considerably in the last few years and is – like so many markets – very dynamic. You therefore cannot rest on your laurels, you must now already work on solutions for the future.”
