R+T 2018 in Stuttgart, which takes place from 27 February to 3 March, is viewed as both an industry and innovation platform. In addition to visiting the total of ten exhibition halls, visitors have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and expertise according to their specific interests. For instance, at the ift special show “Comfort + Safety” in the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10, Stand 10D31).
The topics reflect the spirit of the time. Both areas, comfort and safety, will occupy lots of space at R+T in Stuttgart. This applies both to the products and to the accompanying programme. For example, the ift special show “Comfort + Safety” shows what doors, gates and their components can and have to be able to do today, how the requirements are to be checked and how safety and quality are achieved. “Doors, gates and windows turn walls into houses. These elements regulate the indoor climate and make possible simple, comfortable and safe access – a thousand times. Doors and gates are the business cards of a building, they are characterised by their function and impress in their entirety”, is how Andreas Schmidt, Product Manager of Doors and Gates at ift Rosenheim, summarises the high requirements.
The demand for automatic structural components is constantly growing because comfort and safety are improved and operation is simplified. Structural elements with electric drives are also machines in terms of the machinery directive and are subject to special safety requirements.
This also applies if they are only put together from assemblies at the premises. At R+T in Stuttgart ift Rosenheim is therefore focussing on the planning and design of the drives and control systems, as well as on the design-based characteristics. Here the electrical and functional safety of the components takes centre stage.
The programme in Stuttgart is rounded off with topics on fire and smoke protection and intrusion resistance.
Action zones and exhibits
The often technically complex areas are made tangible at the special show “Comfort + Safety”: The trade fair visitors can experience the practical implementation live in action zones. Well-known manufacturers such as Efaflex Tor und Sicherheitssysteme, Teckentrup or Effertz Tore are also on-board as co-exhibitors with innovative exhibits. If, for example, attempted burglaries are made at a gate, visitors can be convinced of the stability and safety from the exhibits. The same also applies to the area of electrical and functional safety. “Here we show the operating principle of control systems and the protection of an automatic door or gate”, adds Andreas Schmidt. “The requirements and inspections of functional and electrical safety are also taken into account and our experts are available to answer questions.” The area of fire protection is also a focal point at the ift special show. The visitors can examine a certified fire protection curtain and obtain detailed information with regard to the necessary requirements, test methods, certificates and the marking (CE marking).
A presentation forum – launched jointly with BVT (National Federation of Door and Gate Manufacturers) – completes the offer. Andreas Schmidt: “The experts on site provide information on technology, requirements, standards and tests. I am confident that there will be a lively discussion from the direct exchange of opinions and ideas with the experts of ift Rosenheim and the co-exhibitors.”
