Corona pandemic has an impact on R+T trade fairs abroad

Trade fairs in China and Brazil postponed

Events organised by Messe Stuttgart abroad are also affected by the effects of the corona pandemic: The next R+T Asia will take place from 16 to 18 March 2021. The original date of the 16th edition of Asia’s leading trade fair for sun protection and doors/gates (24 – 26 February 2020) was initially postponed to June due to the outbreak of the corona virus in China. R+T Asia will now take place next time in 2021 at its usual date in spring. In the R+T year, the March date also ensures a beneficial interval of three weeks after the world’s leading trade fair R+T in Stuttgart.

An official order issued last week by China’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council was the decisive factor in postponing the event until 2021. This was preceded by numerous constructive discussions with exhibitors and associations to assess the situation and the daily observation of the pandemic development worldwide.

Starting in 2021, R+T Asia will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), the largest and most modern exhibition center in Shanghai. R+T Asia 2021 will occupy halls H1, H2, H3 and NH. The site is located in the immediate vicinity of Shanghai-Hongqiao International Airport and the Hongqiao traffic hub, with excellent connections to the metro, high-speed trains and buses. The new venue in the NECC thus ensures a high quality of service and excellent accessibility for visitors.

R+T South America postponed to November 2020

R+T South America in São Paulo, which was scheduled for June 2020, is also being postponed. The worldwide spread of the corona pandemic and official orders prevent trade fair events from taking place in Brazil. The third R+T South America will therefore take place together with the parallel GLASS South America from November 5 to 8, 2020. National and international exhibitors of both trade fairs have already expressed their support for this date. The important synergy effects of both events will remain and a date in the business year 2020 will enable contracts to be concluded and the opportunity to acquire urgently needed new customers.

Manuela Keller, project manager for R+T trade fairs abroad, argues in favour of the postponements: “With the new dates we have now been able to create planning security for our exhibitors and visitors. It is clear that R+T Asia and R+T South America are and will remain important industry meeting points in their respective markets. The continuity of our trade fair activities is the top priority for all exhibitors, partners and for us as a trade fair company, in order to facilitate global exchange and trade again as quickly as possible”.
