
Vinexpo Bordeaux, which will take place from June 18th to June 21st 2017 at Parc des Expositions Bordeaux Lac, will offer a four-day line-up of talks, conferences, masterclasses and tastings at the Vinexpo Academy. This rich programme composed by the exhibitors will complement the exciting conferences and tasting organized by Vinexpo itself which include: “wine and spirits markets after Brexit”, “Fire and Rain: Climate Change and the Wine Industry” organized in partnership with Wine Spectator, “Spanish wines on export markets”, “Riesling Masterclasses”, “Ecommerce and Digital Conference”, and last but not least Vinexpo Challenge” a blind tasting with Jon Arvid Rosengren, 2016 Best Sommelier of the World.
The Vinexpo Academy, the exhibition’s genuine platform of discoveries will feature wines and spirits from around the globe, a great opportunity to explore and enjoy Top Italian wines at Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri Top Italian Wines Masterclass, which will be presented for the first time ever in France.
Other exciting masterclasses include “the Irish spirits renaissance” a tasting that highlights a selection of the country’s latest spirits innovations including whiskies, gins, and whisky cream liqueurs.
The Academy programme will star tastings of wines from lesser known vineyards, such as Serbia for instance. Through a tasting of 18 representative wines, this under-the-radar wine country will present its grape varieties and various wine styles.
Another country to present some very special treasures is Georgia, with its “Cradle of wine” tasting and conference highlighting the country‘s 8000 years of winemaking history and Qvevri winemaking method which has largely inspired some of current day winemaking trends in Georgia and beyond.
In addition, wines, sakés and sochu, two traditional Japanese beverages will play an important role in this year’s Vinexpo event programme, with a through rough presentation of their production processes and suggestion of pairings with non-Japanese cuisines. The masterclass will be held by leading representatives of Miyasaka Brewing Co. Ltd and the Japanese Saké and Sochu producers association.
The famous Spanish bodega Tempos Vega Sicilia, will offer a comparative tasting of one of the country’s main grape varieties, tempranillo, grown on different terroirs and under different climates, of Spain.
Amongst the very numerous prestigious wine and spirits tastings at the Vinexpo Academy, the 2016 vintage tasting of Bordeaux’s Union des Grands Crus.
Besides tastings the Vinexpo Academy is also a great place to learn about various other aspects of the wine and spirits world, the international association “Declaration to protect Wine Place & Origin” for instance, will give a press conference regarding its work for the protection of wine origins and against their abuse and miscommunication to consumers. A topic that is extremely relevant to wine and spirits producers and professionals around the globe.
Several award ceremonies such as “Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2017”, “les Victoires du Liège”, and “the Institute of Masters of Wine & the Drinks Business lifetime Achievement Award 2017” have also chosen the Vinexpo Academy for their event.
